Hi Everybody!

Hopefully you just came from visiting Sandra's awesome blog at Sweet Peas Cards. If not, please head over to see Jenny at Crazy About Cricut to start from the beginning. Here's the project I made to share with you today.

I decorated the pail with a pretty ribbon then made these fun pinwheels and attached them to craft sticks. I used a 6x6 piece of paper to make these. I used the Stamping cartridge to make the stars and attached them to a round piece of grungeboard by Tim Holtz - I love how flexible the grungeboard is, but it is still strong enough to keep its form!

I also made a little pinwheel birthday card to go with the 4th of July arrangement.

There are a couple of GREAT prizes to win today! You can win a Scrap 'n Tote!! You can also enter to win this AWESOME prize pack from Post-it!

Celebrate the Occasion Challenge #20

At Celebrate the Occasion this week, we're celebrating the 4th of July and it's time to make a project using red, white, and blue! I just love this time of year, we always get together with family and friends and go to festivals and watch fireworks and the weather is nice and warm, which is always a great thing! For this card and tag, I used K & Company paper and made a pocket card. I printed out some of the words to the Star-Spangled Banner, because besides being one of the best patriotic quotes out there, it's also my 6-year old son's favorite song. :)

Then the tag fits in the pocket that I made by using the zig zag stitch with the Sew Easy and sewing it and reinforcing it with large brads.

To make the embellishment, I scored a strip of paper every 1/2 inch and then made an accordion fold to make it look like a firework. I then ripped a couple of the pleats just to make it look a little more worn. I used glue dots to stick it to the card and then added the sentiment on top.

Make sure you come and join us this week at Celebrate the Occasion for this fun challenge and to check out all the fabulous work from the rest of the awesome Design Team!! All you need to do is create a card, layout or project and post it by Sunday, July 3rd, 11:59pm (EST). The winner will be selected and entered into the monthly drawing!

Challenges I entered:
Designed to Delight - red, white, and blue and/or Christmas
Card Makin' Mamas - red, white, and blue
Dream Valley - use ribbon
My Craft Spot - seeing stars
More than Favors - tags
Scrapbookaholic by Abby - red, white, and blue
Play Date Cafe - color challenge

Have a wonderful day!

Birthday Wishes

My little girl's 10th birthday is coming up soon, and this darling Magnolia girl just reminded me of her when she was still little. She's so cute with her little pigtails and pretty dress! I love how feminine this My Mind's Eye paper is and the glitter accents on the paper are great too!

I cut out a scalloped shape out of vellum just because I couldn't fully cover up the beautiful paper. I used the Designed to Delight spring cupcake and used my Copic markers and watercolor pencils to color everything in. Then I added some star dust stickles, pearls, and flowers.

I printed out the Birthday Wishes on vellum, used an EK Success border punch, and finished it off with some silver twine and flowers.

Challenges that inspired me:
Birthday Sundaes - shaped card
Crazy 4 Challenges - add twine, floss, string, etc.
Designed to Delight - orange and pink
Paper Sundaes - easel card
My Craft Spot - how sweet it is
Getting Cricky - faces
Magnolia-Licious - color & image challenge
Crafty Creations - use anything sparkly

Hope you're all having an awesome day!

Summer 4x4 mini record album

I totally scheduled this for tonight instead of last night! Ooops!
Paper Psnther here.
I made this book for my ten year old daughter to record our summer- since I have been flat down in bed with this pregnancy (only 2 months along) The front of the book is My Minds Eye paper from their laundry line- it is glittery. The Summer is also from My Mind's Eye their Tres Jolie collection. The Little Flower on the bottom left is K&Company- it is beaded- super sweet and the Sun is cut from the Create a Critter Cricut Cartridge.
Here is the back side - I just folded the sturdy My Minds Eye paper over. I used Bakers thread in yellow to bind it together.
Here is the front inside. I used Distress ink to get rid of all the white. The inside paper was a Provo Craft 8x8 slab of coordinating paper. It is not sturdy paper, but is as thick as printer paper. Folding it over after trimming it down to 4x4 and gluing just the edges made it sturdier and a pocket.
I have 18 pages so that she can journal, decorate, put pictures on or whatever- front and back- so that is 36 pages, not counting the inside binding. I also have a little kit for her to decorate with. Flowers, brads, etc. Mostly my rejects that match.
Here it is from the side view. I think she will have fun with it. The only catch I gave her was it all has to be happy and god things. She tends to look for the bad- so this will also help with that. :)
The pockets are in each page. I figure she can fill them with tags, ticket stubs, drawings or whatever she wants to. I punched with my circle punch a little more than halfway on each page so that it would be easy to see and pull out whatever is inside.
Here is the binding. I just bent it over, but not too hard. There really isn't a hard crease. I took a hole punch and punched each page with two holes. One on top and on bottom and then did the same to the front and back of the binding. It is holding really well.
I hope you liked this Celebrate the Occasions Design. Go check out all the wonderful creations the other Design Team members have done too. And then, of course, enter your own. Have a good summer! :)

I am also linking this up with Fantabulous Cricut Challenge blog who also needed a sun on the project :)

Father's Day Banner

Welcome to Crazy About Cricut Thankful Thursday! This week's challenge is to make a special project for Father's Day, and you're welcome to try something other than a card too :) I can usually come up with some cute ideas for girls, but when it comes to guys, sometimes I just can't think of anything to make for them! So I searched around for some inspiration and came upon the Tie-riffic Father's Day ideas on the My Insanity blog! So I made this awesome banner to have waiting for my father-in-law and grandpa when they come over for the party on Sunday. Since my dad lives in Washington, I'm going to email him the pictures so he can get a banner too! :)

I used the ties on the Everyday Paper Dolls cart and the letters from the Birthday Bash cart. So cute! Then I used the shadow feature and raised them up on pop dots just to give it a little more 3D effect and added the buttons as embellishments.

You'll want to make sure to head over to Crazy About Cricut and check out all the awesome Design Team projects and enter your family's project! You can enter to win an AMAZING prize pack from Post-It!!

Here are a couple challenges I entered:
Cooking with Cricut - Father's Day
My Craft Spot - We love you Dad
Dream Valley Challenges - Father's Day

Hope you all have a good time celebrating all the wonderful fathers that we love so much!

Celebrate the Occasion Challenge #18

This week at Celebrate the Occasion, we were challenged to come up with a project that had a birthday theme that included a party hat. I used My Mind's Eye Lime Twist - Life of the Party collection. This paper is so bright and happy, it just asks to be a birthday project! :) I used one of my new favorite cartridges, Birthday Bash and created a flower box using Tags, Bags, Boxes and More.

I used some tulle and the party hat sentiment to decorate the box, along with some more of the fun paper.

Then used some more tulle to tie around the 6x6 card with a bow at the top to make it look almost like its own gift box. I loved that cute little cupcake, so I used it for the main image on my card.

Come and join us this week at Celebrate the Occasion for this fun challenge and to check out all the fabulous work from the rest of the awesome Design Team!! All you need to do is create a card, layout or project and post it by Sunday, June 19th, 11:59pm (EST). The winner will be selected and entered into the monthly drawing! For the month of June we are giving away a "Peachy Keen $20 gift card!! Have a great day!

Challenges I entered:
Cooking with Cricut - pick your poison
Birthday Sundaes - wet or dry embossed birthday card
Scrappy Moms - sweet treats

Kitty Card

My daughter made this adorable kitten card for the Card Makin' Mamas challenge! She is one of the Guest Designers this week and she was given the challenge to make a card using one of the digistamps they sent us. She chose all the papers and cut them out herself, she colored the kitten and flowers using her colored pencils, and made the cute little bow for the kitten! The only thing I had to help with was the striped bow, and let's face it, bows can be hard for everyone to make! She was so cute saying that she was going to give it to her friend this weekend because she's going to her birthday party. I was so proud of her for wanting to do this and it's so fun to see her creativity come shining through :)

Have an awesome day!

Birthday Car

I've been trying to make some more masculine cards for my card supply so I decided to do a birthday one since those are the ones I need most. I didn't really mean for the image to look like Lightening McQueen but I guess the new Cars movie has been on my mind since my son brings it up daily, so that's what ended up on the card :)

I tied waxy flax around the card a couple of times, because it looked a little more masculine to me than ribbon. Then I used my Sew Easy and punched some holes so I could sew the zig zag - I thought it mirrored the embossed paper really well too!

Challenges that inspired me:
My Craft Spot - tie one on
Birthday Sundaes - anything goes
The Paper Variety - for or about a special man in your life
Papercraft Star - follow sketch and masculine card
Card Makin' Mamas - use your scraps
Designed to Delight - masculine, no flowers

Have a great day!

Happy Father's Day cricut card

Using the CUTEST BEAVER EVER off of the Create a Critter Cricut Cart. I also used the grass from that cart. and embossed a blue piece of card stock with the Spots and Dots embossing folder on my Sizzix texture boutique embossing purse (so cute)

Then I used the computer to print the message out- since every man I am related to in my family works as hard as beavers- and every other man I have met thinks he does. LOL
I hope you enjoy- now go to Celebrate the Occasion and check out all the other brilliant artists on the design team this week!
Thanks,

Celebrate the Occasion Pool Party Blog Hop!!!

Welcome to the Celebrate the Occasion "Pool Party" Blog Hop. If you are coming from my super talented friend Amber's site at My 3 E Scrapbooking you’re on the right track. Everyone has lots of fun summer projects to share with you!

Laverne-http://www.acraftershaven.blogspot.com/

I made this fun summer layout when I got all our swimming pictures back from last summer! The kids had a blast swimming and I loved making this swimming layout! I used paper from Karen Foster and Bazzill and then added the little bling bubbles and prima flowers. All the bright colors just make me want to go jump in the pool! :)

I cut out some 'splashes' from vellum and then inked around the edges with my Tim Holtz broken china distress ink. I love the way that ink doesn't even smudge on vellum! I used a couple of different embossing folders on the fish and then inked them up too.

Well I can't let you leave without a little blog candy right? I'm giving away the iRock from Imaginisce! All you have to do is leave me a comment and don't forget to leave me a way to contact you in case you are the lucky winner! Llama Birthday

I recently got the Birthday Bash cart because I loved all the different shape cards you can make it with it! Plus since I love Create a Critter so much, I thought I probably needed some more little animals to create with. These guys are so adorable! They have everything from the llama to a cute birthday crocodile, and I can't wait to use them all!

I used some scraps I had from the Route 66 paper collection from Close to my Heart and then used stickles to add some dimension to the cute little stack of presents (even guys can use a little bling, right!) Then added some ribbon and industrial size brads and my masculine birthday card was done :)

Challenges that inspired me:
Cooking with Cricut - use at least 2 of their list of colors, I used green, brown, cream, etc.
Cricut Cardz Challenge - use the card feature on any cart
Birthday Sundaes - masculine birthday
Papercraft Star - masculine, the presents reminded me of the stacked cake in the inspiration picture
Card Makin' Mamas - use scraps
My Craft Spot - use a cute critter
Scrapalicious USA - man card

Have an awesome day!
