Thankful Thursday Pirate Project

The Thankful Thursday challenge at Crazy About Cricut for this week is to make a project with a Pirate theme! Arrgghh! For this fun pirate party, I started out by taking a picture of each child and then I made a tag for each of them to wear. They loved that they had their picture on them and it was like their badge for the party :)

I made my daughter a cute pirate bow since she is really into bows right now and it was a joint party for her and her brother.

I made a pirate cake and decorated it with Oreo tube cookies, Rolos, and square grid looking pretzels for the windows. I used my Cricut and the Life's a Beach cart to make the pirate flag and put it on a bendy straw. Then I dyed coconut flakes with blue food coloring and floated some Swedish fish in the water :)

We sent the kids on a treasure hunt for their goodies. I made each of the kids a shirt with the pirate logo on the front saying "Where there be Pirates, there be a Party!" and their names on the back. I even made Pirate Princess shirts for the girls. They loved them!

Such an awesome party, and girls and boys all got in on the fun! Now make sure to head over to Crazy About Cricut and check out all the awesome Design Team projects and enter your family's pirate project and don't forget Talk Like a Pirate Day is September 19th! Have a fun day!

Spring Break

Feeling like I'm in serious need of a spring break, I found a bunch of challenges this week that inspired this card. Most of the paper I used was from Close to My Heart, they have great paper packs. Then I used the Life is a Beach cartridge for the palm tree and the flower charm.

The flower in the charm kind of reminded me of a clock, so that's where the sentiment came from. :) I used Perfect Pearl pigment powder from Ranger to give the flower some shimmer - I haven't had a chance to use it very often, but it added a really nice effect. I also used a brad and blue fibers as accents.

I entered a bunch of challenges with this card:

Cricut Cardz Challenge - 9x4 card, any theme, any colors
Papercraft Star - Spring inspiration and one of their colors
Simon Says Stamp - anything goes
Cooking with Cricut - time to spring forward, use a timepiece, clock, or some reference to time
Fantabulous Cricut - use a tree
The Play Date Cafe - use these colors
Two Scraptastic Gals - Life's a Beach cart

Hope you're all having a great week!

Going Wild Layout

I found the perfect excuse to use the giraffe & monkey from the Create a Critter cartridge :) I had these zoo photos and I just had to use them! I used the leaf from the T-rex dino on that cartridge too.

The words and the flowers are from the Life's a Beach cart. I seriously loved Cricut Design Studio for this project, I used it for everything!

I extended the vine for the monkey to hang on using Design Studio, so he would hang past my pictures.

I added a little flower to the giraffe just to give her a little color using a flower from Life's a Beach.

I gave him the sunglasses that usually go with the giraffe, and they fit him really well :)

Then I added a little bit of Stickles to the middle of the flowers for some extra shimmer.

I found a couple of challenges to enter with this layout:

The Paper Variety - use mostly green
More Than Favors - zoo theme
Cooking with Cricut - double take

Hope you're all having an awesome week!

CTO Design Team Happy Birthday

I'm so excited, Paper Panther & I have been chosen to be on the Celebrate the Occasion Design Team!!! It should be lots of fun and we're looking forward to doing lots of great projects!!

Here is my card that I entered:

On the outside of the card, I was going for a treasure chest look with the plank paper and the sand dollar & ruby clasp :)

My son loves pirates, and I had made him a vinyl skull to put on the outside of his Nintendo DS, so I decided to make this card using the Life's a Beach cartridge. It did everything from the big X marks the spot to the cute treasure chest and pirate skull. Then I printed out the birthday sentiment.

I used some diamond & ruby bling for the pirate treasure!

Then I stitched the path to the X. I love the Sew Easy stitch piercer from We R Memory Keepers, it's so easy to use!

I'm so excited to be on the Celebrate the Occasion design team! Can't wait to get started :)

Pirate Scrapbook Page video Tutorial

This is a 12x12 page. It started as white cardstock. I used a Mask that I made with my cricut for the Helm (ships steering wheel) With Life is a Beach. I used My Minds Eye paper (we love them here at Purple Peeps) Tons of distress ink, Close To my Heart ink, and Stampin' up ink. The P is grungeboard (another favorite) CLICK HERE for the Video tutorial.

We Hope you Enjoy, *hugs* The Paper Panther
